Don’t let the summer heat get you down – we’re sharing our favorite ways you can keep cool, comfortable, and enjoy the summer season.

The summer heat can get pretty oppressive, and it can seem like the only option to stay cool is to invest in a walk-in refrigerator.

But fear not my sweaty friend! Here are seven foolproof ways you can keep cool this summer. Matchbook bonus code 2017

1. Replace your air filters

One of the best things you can do to ke cool this summer is a simple bit of DIY – replacing your HVAC filters.

It’s a quick job, and you can easily pick up new filters from your local hardware store relatively expensively.

It means your A/C doesn’t have to work so hard to get cool air into your home, as well as improves air quality. It’s a win-win!

2. Do some basic duct maintenance

While we’re on the topic of DIY, there’s another small piece you can do with your HVAC – seal it up. Depending on your layout, you might not have access to all your ducts.

But wherever you do, get a roll of duct tape and put it to good use. The more tiny cracks or holes you can seal, the more efficiently your HVAC system will cool your house.

3. Get up early

Take a leaf out of Spain’s book and try and adapt your schedule to the weather that you’ve got. By getting up early, taking a big break in the middle of the day, and staying up late, you end up working and playing when it’s nice and cool outside, rather than smoldering hot.

4. Stay out of the sun

Of course, you need something to DO in the middle of the day, right? Well, whatever it is, try and stay out of the sun.

Just by staying out of the sun, for example under a patio cover, you’ll find the heat much more tolerable.

5. Get a ceiling fan

A ceiling fan will improve air circulation and help push the hot air out and get the cool air to where you want it.

Plus, any air movement at all will help keep you cool and comfortable, so the more you can move the air, the better off you’ll be.

6. Take a cool bath

There’s a reason why sports teams at summer training camps take ice baths, and it’s not just about muscle recovery.

An ice bath or, if you can’t stomach it, just a cool bath will do wonders to quickly cool down your core temperature and get you back on your feet.

7. Drink a hot drink

Counter-intuitive though it might seem, a tried and true way to cool yourself down is to have a hot drink.

Why? Because hot drinks cause you to sweat, and as that sweat evaporates off you, you will be cooler.

While this might not work so well in a humid climate, in a dry and hot one it might just do better than a big iced coffee.

There you have it. Seven ways you can cool yourself down from the oppressive heat this summer. And with temperatures already increasing, you can start preparing now.

Have a great summer!
